Instant Fiction | Saugerties Times

Instant Fiction

Minda Zetlin

On Wednesday, Jan. 9, the Glaring Omissions writers group will come together with audience members to create an improvised piece of ?instant fiction? at Inquiring Mind Bookstore and Caf?. This exercise in fiction writing helps the creative juices get flowing and is usually funny and always entertaining. The improvisation will be led by founding Glaring Omissions members Scott Anderson and Minda Zetlin. Afterward, participants will receive a copy of the short piece they?ve helped to author. Anderson?s work includes the short story, ??The Passion of Saint Hayakawa,? published in the second volume of the Hudson Valley writers compilation Prima Materia, scripts for children?s puppet shows and a live-performance spoof of golden-age radio. Minda Zetlin is the author or co-author of several books, most recently The Geek Gap, co-authored with Bill Pfleging. Her nonfiction work has appeared in a wide range of publications, and her fiction has appeared in Prima Materia, Trellis, and Unknowns. She is also the president of the American Society of Journalists and Authors. Inquiring Mind is located on the corner of Main and Partition Streets in Saugerties.
