Golf: Gainesville boys finish fourth at Apple Mountain

CLARKESVILLE -- The Gainesville boys golf team carded a team total 309 on Saturday in the Apple Mountain Invitational in Clarkesville -- good enough to finish fourth in a 24-team field.

Lawson King led the Red Elephants with 76, while Parks Brown recorded a 77. Pep Brown and Grant Lasseter, meanwhile, each fired 78.

Peachtree Ridge won the team title with a 298, while Habersham Central's Lee McCoy recorded the low score of the day at 2-under 70.

Gainesville's junior varsity also played and shot a 290 -- which was eight strokes better than Peachtree Ridge -- but the score did not count for the tournament. Nathan Williams' 1-under 71 led the Red Elephants JV, while Spencer Ralston fired a 72. Jackson Bishop also shot a 73 and Reeves Bell a 74.
